Phase 1: Exploration
Input: Questionnaire (75 questions)
Objective: To assess project performance against critical factors that drive success or failure.
Involves a detailed examination of the project in terms of:
- Project purpose, objectives and outcomes
- Organizational alignment, stakeholder engagement, sponsorship, and project team
- Effectiveness of project delivery approach and use of core PM disciplines
Outputs: List of issues; root cause analysis; process rankings; Go/No Go decision.
Outcome: Broad acceptance of performance gaps relating to a decision to “kill” or to continue the project.
Phase 2: Road map
Objective: To agree upon a road map to transition to target state and involves:
- Road map development: Based on priorities, creating a strong foundation for managing project to successful completion
- Road map socialization: Broader engagement to gain buy-in and refine based on feedback
- Longer terms recommendations: Exploration of systemic issues that need to be addressed
Output: An executable road map for this specific project; Longer term recommendations
Outcome: Broad engagement on activities required to create the strong foundation required for success.
